The reason for this post is due to something we have noticed with a client. At Juno Copywriting I work along side SEO specialists, web designers, all manner of people and they are very good at their jobs.
One of the guys had noticed that a clients site had been dropping dramatically and couldn’t work out why, until he delved a little deeper.
When Google introduced their Panda algorithm, it penalised dodgy back link practice and also content. As we know, content is king and this holds so true in the case of websites, blogs and content- in fact, I actually see the results on a daily basis, anyway, back to the client.
We discovered a huge amount of duplicate content, if you didn’t know about Googles policy on duplicate content, it is this simple. DO NOT DO IT.
If you are running your own blog as a company, for the love of eggs, do not copy and paste content from other sites, this is a sure fire way to ruin your website, drop your place in Google and it can obviously affect your business.
Google absolutely loves and will do a lot for unique, relative content. I’ll repeat that again
UNIQUE. RELATIVE. CONTENT.
This means no copying, this means making sure you are writing in a way that is relevant and not spamming everyone with keywords and that the content will engage and inform your visitors. Do this on a regular basis and you will see the results. If you don’t have the time or inclination to do this, you can pay someone (like me) to do this for you.
I’ve been working on a site, which in January was on page 4 for a keyword and now is at the top of page 2, so in the next couple of weeks, we’ll be on page one. That is simply from providing blogs and content which is fresh, lovely and not copied from anywhere!
Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
