And for once it’s not me, in fact I’m shrinking, but that’s another story. I’m talking in terms of work. Its been an odd week, a good one, but despite losing an hour at the beginning and seemingly not able to catch up on it, it’s been an interesting 7 days.
At the beginning of the week, I was hauled in to find some PR/Marketing professionals to help promote a huge media summit in Boston. Exciting times.
I have been contacted by a couple of local agencies who need content and copywriting, which is always a bonus. After attending the NEC Internet Retailing Expo last week and leaving my business card with a few people (some for business, some to hopefully win an iPad) I had a call yesterday from a nice gentleman who touted one one of his stalls about some work (slightly gutted it wasn’t an iPad), and finally, today I’ve had a couple of emails about work covering maternity in London.
I was also asked to provide some wisdom about setting up a business, which is always nice to hear, I think despite the terrible goings on at petrol pumps and Gregs, there is always room for more freelance companies.
It’s a funny one, and it always goes like this, periods of quiet, periods of manic activity, but you always have to prepare for these. What tends to happen in periods of quiet work times, you get yourself out there, networking, applying for projects and touting your wares, then when it does get busy, you don’t actually have any time to do any of that, so I suppose in reflection, it is a total balance.
All the interest has been flying in from all angles, through A Write Charley and Juno Copywriting, its great to have a mix of different clients and a range of projects to work on, the next thing looks like I might be a model for a new Tights eCommerce store (need to tone the pins!)
